GCSE Results Day 2018

Grisha –  the greatest GCSE guy!

Grisha Klymenko, from Ukraine, joined Bosworth Independent College on Barrack Road in Northampton (www.bosworthcollege.com) in September 2016 to study GCSEs, in spite of English being his second language.

Just one week after his 17th birthday, Grisha has plenty to celebrate.  He has attained GCSE grade 8 in Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science, along with grade 7 in Physics and A in IGCSE English Language and B in Business Studies. These GCSE grades come hot on the heels of an A in Advanced Subsidiary Mathematics and another A in Advanced Subsidiary Psychology which he chose to study alongside GCSE “for fun” to keep his active brain occupied.

Grisha will progress to study A-levels at Bosworth Independent College where over 30% of this year’s candidates were awarded A* or A grades in at least 3 A-level subjects!

Charlotte Ashby: achieved grade 8 in Chemistry, 7 in Biology, Physics, Latin and Geography alongside other outstanding results, she studied GCSE Latin in just one year – much to the delight of Fiona, our Principal, who often expresses her belief that all students would benefit from some study of Latin!  Charlotte also excelled in AS English Language which she took for fun, alongside her full GCSE timetable. Charlotte told us, “I am absolutely over the moon!!”

Charlotte is currently busy doing NCS (National Citizen Service), before starting her studies to be a Vet.

Ella Aggett: achieved grade 8 in Biology, 7 in Chemistry and Physics, alongside great results in Maths, English, History and Business Studies. We’re looking forward to working with Ella next year for A-level.

Oliver Furlong: achieved grade 7 in Computer Science, alongside other fantastic grades. Oliver is now more than qualified for his progression to an Application Data Technician Course (Level 3) at his new college. Well done Oliver.

To be continued……..

GCSE Results Day 2017

Fiona Pocock, Principal at Bosworth explains, “We work with students who have a wide range of abilities and from many different backgrounds at GCSE.  It is particularly gratifying therefore to learn that in this first tranche of new-style GCSEs for English and Maths, our results at GCSE are the best ever!  The students should feel very proud of themselves.  They have worked hard, as have all the staff at the college and parents too, supporting them.  We look forward to working with our successful GCSE students as they progress to A-level and BTEC.  At the same time, our lovely results this summer mean that we are excited for our new GCSE students who will be examined on the revised specifications in a wider range of subjects next summer.”

This year GCSE Maths, English Language & English Literature are now graded 1-9 with 9 being the highest possible score, for full information see https://www.bosworthcollege.com/course/changes-gcse-qualification/

We are proud of all our students, but a special mention goes to the following individuals:

Thasahari Sivakumaran: Achieved A* grades in Chemistry, Geography, History, ICT and Spanish, a 9 in English Language (which equates to an A**), an A in Biology & Physics and an 8 in English Literature & Maths on the 2-year course. Thasahari shares with us, “I really like the sense of community at Bosworth, everybody is so supportive of everyone else.”

Darin Hansakul: Achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History & ICT, a 9 in Maths and English Language (which equates to an A**), an A grade in Business Studies and an 8 in English Literature on the 2-year GCSE course. Mia Buchmayr:  Achieved A* grades in Biology, Chemistry & Physics, an 8 in Maths and a 6 in English Language on the 1-year intensive course. Mia tells us, “My experience at Bosworth helped me to develop as a person and gain the confidence I need to achieve my goals.”

Laura Bullen: Achieved A* grades in Biology, French, Latin & Spanish, A grades in Chemistry & Music, a 7 in Maths and a 6 in English Language and English Literature on the 2-year course, but she joined us towards the end of the first year. Laura explains, “The small class sizes at Bosworth have helped me to develop to my full potential, and dedication of my subject teachers has prepared me very well for my GCSE exams. Bosworth is a place where everybody is respected and valued, and it has taught me not to be afraid of being myself. I have been to four different schools and Bosworth is by far the best!”

Jack King: Achieved A grades in Chemistry, Physics, History & ICT, an 8 in Maths, a B in Biology, Business Studies & German and a 7 in English Language on the 2-year course. Ufuk Alti: Achieved an A* grade in Turkish, A grades in Chemistry, Physics & History, an 8 in Maths, B grades in Biology, French & Geography and a 6 in English Language on the 2-year course. 2016 Results

Fiona Pocock, Principal at Bosworth explains, “We work with students who have a wide range of abilities and from many different backgrounds at GCSE.  I am therefore particularly pleased with this summer’s examination outcomes where some very solid foundations for future study at A-level have been laid.  Also, here at Bosworth we are able to offer a one-year or a two-year option at GCSE, so many of our students are able to achieve real success in just one-year.

We are proud of all our students, but a special mention goes to the following individuals: Matthew McNicholas has achieved an A* in History and A grades in Geography, Maths and Physics with all other subjects at grade B.  Stella Miettinen from Finland, has all A*, A to B grades.

Thomas Morland-Nuttall (pictured left) has 2 A*s, 3 As and a B amongst his results.

Thomas told us, “I would recommend Bosworth as all the teachers are passionate about what they teach which helps with explanations as they are willing to spend more time if you don’t understand a topic. I would describe Bosworth in 3 words as friendly, diverse and focused.”

Eric Park, from South Korea has all A and B grades!  Shadow Yang has worked similarly hard in a non-native language to attain an A*, 2 As, 2 Bs and a C in English.

2015 Results

We have known since September 2013 that we had an outstanding group of students who would complete their GCSE studies this summer. They have been engaged and engaging from the very start of their course: focussed, hard-working and sharing a tremendous camaraderie. The results have proved us correct!

Corey Markie has A* grades in six subjects, three As and one B, setting her on track for science A-levels in preparation for entry to a Medical School. Leann Thompson has four A*s and two A grades to add to her strong results from last summer.

Adham Elessawy, from Egypt, has two A*s and four A grades alongside his A grade in First Certificate English and Daisy Wang, from China, excelled with an A* in Mathematics, A grades in three subjects, Bs in two, including First Certificate English, and one C.

Bethany Alexander is delighted with her four A*s, three As and two Bs. We look forward to working with her from September at the start of her time as a boarding student.

Our GCSE results are a credit to the students’ hard work and the unstinting efforts of their teachers. We are delighted that such diligence has reaped rewards but above all that this group of high-achievers has taken such pleasure in reaching their goals
