GCSE History enables students to gain knowledge and understanding of key Twentieth Century themes and develops the important skills of analysis and evaluation.
It is useful to have studied History before, but is not essential.
There are three units, one of which is a Controlled Assessment.
Unit 1: International Relations 1900-1939. Within this unit three topics are studied: The origins of the First World War Peace making and the League of Nations Hitler’s foreign policy and the origins of the Second World War
Unit 2: Twentieth Century Depth Studies. Within this unit three topics are studied: The Roaring 20s, USA 1919-29 Hitler’s Germany 1929-45 War in Vietnam 1954-75
Unit 3: Controlled Assessment – The British People in War
|Unit 1 and 2 are both tested by examination papers of 1hr 45mins each.
Unit 3 consists of two essays based on sources from AQA and individual research. This is marked at Bosworth but moderated by AQA.
The exam board is AQA. The Course is History B.
